Purpose of the Award

Starting in 2015, the annual GSS Young Scholar Award recognizes exceptional young researchers who have made outstanding contributions to Global Systems Science, that face (but are not limited to) the issues on policy and regulation, risk management and mitigation, decision making under uncertainty and conflicts, sustainability and resilience, etc.

Scholars not over 35 years that are PhD candidate or Post-docs, research fellows and assistant professor that were awarded their doctorate in the preceding 5 years on 31 October 2015 are eligible.

We encourage interested young scholars to submit a preliminary paper before 5 October 2015. A restricted number of finalists will be selected and will have the opportunity to present their work at the Global Systems Science International Conference 2015 that will be held in cooperation with the Genoa Science Festival 28-30 October 2015 in Genoa (Italy). Each finalist will have about 20 minutes for the presentation and 5 minutes for plenary discussion. We will inform proposers whether their proposal has been accepted as finalist by 10 October 2015.

The decision on the award will be made by the GSS Young Scholar Award Committee, a five person committee. The award is accompanied by a 1,000 € honorarium.
