We are proud to announce the publishing of CONSENSUS Press Release Issue 3. Thirty months ago, CONSENSUS envisioned to simplify, identify and visualize the consequences of decisions in the policy making process. At the core of the project was the CONSENSUS policy model, which decomposes policies in a number of -often conflicting- objectives. Using the model in combination to visualizations and data analysis, allowed the exploration of the design and objective space.. Now, thirty months later we can say that we have realized our vision.
Our project published its second Newsletter. Do not lose the opportunity to know more about our project's achievements and results as well as upcoming and performed activities here!
Consensus (www.consensus-project.eu) is a research project co-funded by the EU under the 7th Framework programme that aims to develop a methodology and a decision-aid tool (the Consensus MOOViz) that will, in an easy and comprehensive manner, analyze and visualize the consequences of a large set of alternative policy decisions.
The 8th meeting of CONSENSUS project took place in Brussels, Belgium on 12th - 13th of January, 2016. The presentations and discussions during the meeting were focused on the following issues:
- Project status and planning
- Acceptability model and pilots planning
- Architecture and Integration of the CONSENSUS components
- Models and Simulators Prototypes
- Dissemination and Exploitation planning

Researchers' Night is a celebration of science and research, held every year on the last Friday of September in more than 300 cities across Europe . The events are supported by the European Commission under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions. In 2015 , the Researchers' Night celebrates its 10th anniversary and will take place on September 25. In Athens, Greece, the event will be hosted at the Cultural Centre "Hellenic Cosmos".
CONSENSUS, along with other Global Systems Science projects, organised a Workshop in the context of the dual EGOV / ePart 2015 conference, titled “Enabling Effective Policy Making – Coupling the Power of the Data with the Wisdom of the Crowd”.
The annual international IFIP EGOV conference is the top-2 ranked core conference in the domain of ICT in the public sector and the public sphere. Each year, scholars from all over the globe present the most recent advancements and findings of research and innovations in e-Government, e-Governance and related fields of study.
Consensus project works to develop a novel modelling methodology for use by non-experts that can be applied to any problem domain that requires reasoning and decision making with incomplete knowledge and uncertainty. The representation is based on Dynamic Bayesian networks which are relatively intuitive and compact, reflecting conditional relations between problem variables and conditional independancies.
One of the major challenges in decision support systems, handling multi objective problems, is to extract the decision makers’ preferences. Accurate modeling of these preferences is an essential step before any recommendation on policy alternative can be made. The Consensus projects aim to create mechanism to extract decision maker's preferences based
CONSENSUS and Global System Science "sister projects" will co-organize the Workshop: “Enabling Effective Policy Making - Coupling the Power of the Data with the Wisdom of the Crowd” in the frame of the Joint Conference Programme of IFIP EGOV2015 and
The CONSENSUS Game was showcased in the conference “Gaminomics” that took place in London on the 11th of June, 2015 in which NTUA and ATC consortium members collected oral feedback.
Towards achieving the CONSENSUS project's objectives (http://www.consensus-project.eu/objectives), we have implemented a web game in which the citizen can toy with various policies and investigate their impact. We would like to invite you to participate in this game and provide us with your feedback that will help us evaluate our goals.
